Holiday snippets...

Holidays are over way too fast... we look forward ot it for weeks in advance and then as if in a blink you back in reality and life goes on.. This year (last year) we decided only a few weeks before the December holiday break to go to the South Coast over the festive holidays. This was the first time we would've been away for Christmas and we had quite a debate about when to leave etc. In the end I took some extra leave and we left just before Christmas to come back for New Years.. The few days before we left Ethan had quite bad fevers resulting in us leaving a day later than planned.. But I think in the end worked to our favor as the roads were very busy the day we planned to leave (think all of Gauteng goes to South coast in December!) and the next day we were fortunate to have almost no traffic.
We were quite worried about the 7hour + road trip with the two boys and left before 5 that morning.. They slept till our first stop and the we were really fortunate that they were very good the whole trip.. Lots of toys/snacks and Carike Keuzenkamp sure did the trick!

Fast asleep after we left so early... (Jip mr Padda went along!)
Friendly boy so early in the morning!
The moment he woke and saw the hat, it had to go on!
He was still a bit feverish on the road, took all his clothes...
Nothing could prepare us for the heat and humidity that awaited us at our destination..! It was really extremely hot and if it wasn't for the 7 hours back home we would've been tempted to go back..! But we had wonderful beach weather and spent mornings and afternoons on the beach and the kids had their naps midday.. Ethan often falling asleep while we were still on the beach, but luckily it was only about 3 minutes back to our house and he slept all the way there and more.. Scottburgh is quite a small coastal town which resulted in us spending most of our time at hime or we drove to one or two neighboring towns for some other things to do.
The boys absolutely loved the beach, Ethan especially had so much fun with no fear of the water and loved playing in the rock pools. This is one lovely thing about Scottborough beach is all the rock pools and especially in the mornings (low tide) we could play for a long time in the biggest pools, saw soooo much fish (which Jaydon loved) and caught crabs also to Jaydon's delight...

First day on the beach... He just sat and watched the sea for a loonng time..

Jaydon was not so sure..

In his element..!
Going home after one of our beach visits..
Fell asleep on the beach a few times....
Watching the sea...
Loving the rock pools..

Caught a crab!
Going fishing...

Loved the ice cream in the heat!
Actually got a nice shot of us!
An 'after-beach-nap'
Playing in the bath/shower
Anything is funny if it means delaying bath time and not going to bed!
Smiley boy..
Serious boy...
Another one of us...

Another beach nap...

Our last beach visit - Jaydon waving goodbye...

Christmas Day we spent with friends and ended up having a really relaxed and nice day. It was different not being with out families but also nice being just us.
We are looking forward to many more holidays in Scottburgh if things work out the way we plan and it might just become somewhat of a special family holiday spot...
Holidays are always too short but this one was really special and I'm hoping this will be the start of many wonderful memories for our little family..
